The “embarrassment” they are talking about are the metrics of India’s porn-browsing behaviour.
Being the 4th highest source of traffic on Pornhub in past year, The Republic of India brought it down to three porn stars they could not stop searching for.
The first position was scored by Sunny Leone, 2nd by Mia Khalifa, and the 3rd by Lisa Ann. Among the searches which got escalated were “Indian Honeymoon” and “Indian Cartoon”
‘Japanese’ and ‘Indonesia’, which figured prominently on the list of ‘Top 10 Searches of 2015’, were replaced mostly by local searches like ‘Desi’ and ‘Indian Aunty With Young’.
The ‘Indian Teacher’ search jumped 13 places, grabbing the 7th position on the list — which seems like a result of higher internet penetration among school kids.
Initiatives have been taken in the past by Uttar Pradesh and Bihar government to ban porn in college campuses, but the stats apparently speak otherwise.
“Most countries take great pride in their nationality, but India takes it to a whole other level as made evident by their top searches on Pornhub. The majority of searches (top, relative and gaining) include ‘Indian’. One top term that came seemingly out of nowhere to make it into the top 10 list was ‘Indian aunty with young’, flying up to the top by 81 spots. India’s own Sunny Leone is again, the number one searched pornstar in the country and ‘Lesbian’ makes it to the number two spot in the top categories,” Pornhub noted in its blog.
Women’s participation also incremented as 30 per cent Indian women visited Pornhub.
Unfortunately for Pornhub, visitors gave it a miss on Diwali, bringing down the traffic by 17 per cent. The case was similar on Ramzan, where traffic tanked by 15 per cent.
Surprisingly, the steepest fall in traffic came on New Year’s eve, when Pornhub lost 19 per cent of its traffic to Indians’ party plans.
